In this world you will have trouble. But take heart!
 I have overcome the world."
                  .....John 16:33

Jesus never promised to take away our troubles and struggles in this world—but he does provide the strength we need to “overcome” in spite of them.  There are many of us who face the constant trials of living with chronic pain, mental illness, or emotional disorders.

Often times these “troubles” can cause us to feel lonely, discouraged, or hopeless.  The goal of the Overcomers ministry is to provide a safe, secure, spiritual support group for anyone facing these challenges, so we can all truly “overcome”. We have a monthly support group gathering, Bible studies, book readings, prayer partners, and helpful relationships so we can both give and receive the encouragement we need to be our best for God.

If you struggle with anything from migraines to mental illness, depression to disability, sickle cell to schizophrenia, you are welcome to join our group.  Come find out how you can “overcome” by the power of Jesus.  Our next meeting is scheduled for March 29th, from 9:30am to 10:30am, at the church building.

Please contact John Lusk with any questions you may have.

UPDATE 2-29-08:  We had our first meeting on February 23rd and it was a huge success!  The attendance, the honesty, and the encouragement were all fantastic and truly uplifting. I hope and pray all of those who came will also come to our next meeting, and that any others who are interested will come as well.  Please don't hesitate to contact me with any questions you may have.I can also include you in the Group Email List, so you can give and receive regular encouragement.  Remember to memorize our theme verse--John 16:33

UPDATE 6-24-08: We have had great meetings for the past few months...great attendance, great participation, and great encouragement both given and received.  We were blessed to recently have Dr. Ken Wolf join us and talk about the Physiology of Stress, which was particularly helpful.  We will not be meeting in June, but look forward to out next meeting on July 26th at 9:30am at our church building.  As always, everyone is welcome to attend.

Thanks,  John Lusk
